"I'LL ASK AGAIN without all the f-bombs,” he grumbles. “What in the fuck is going on?” he adds, completely not leaving out the f-bomb. He does this while mopping up all the juice he spilled with a dishtowel and then throwing it in the sink. I helped straighten Nessa's shirt before she stomped over and smacked her brother in the back of the head. It was a sight. She was so quiet, but man, was she a force to be reckoned with when she was upset. Egan towered over her, but she doesn’t hesitate to put him in his place. I walk over and brace myself against the open archway that signals where the kitchen begins, and the living area ends and watch my woman at work.

My woman.

I definitely like the sound of that.

"You need to learn how to knock! I can't believe you just barged in like that!" She puts her hands on her hips and scowls at him. Her cheeks are still a deep red from being embarrassed, but she doesn’t let that slow her down. I let myself get lost in the moment of just watching her.

I love everything about this woman.

With that realization, another one settles in my mind. I could love her just as easily. That should scare me, but it only makes me want her more. She’s everything that I never knew I wanted but can’t wait to have.

"Ow, really?" he gripes, rubbing the back of his head, "Normally, I just walk in to see you eating ice cream while reading a big ass book or brushing your hair out while watching a sappy movie. This is new." He grimaces, as she slaps him in the back of the head again. Instead of saying anything to her this time, he steps around her to make his way over to me. He sticks out his hand and I shake it. Even though his face seems relaxed, his grip is anything but. It’s as if he’s trying to break the bones in my hand. He clearly doesn't want his sister to catch on to our little pissing match. I can go along with that, but I tighten my hand just the same. Egan may have more mass than me, but I definitely have more muscle, so I use that to my advantage.

"I'm Egan, Nessie's older brother, and you are? Besides the guy with the death wish to boink my wee little sister." He has a smile on his face, but it’s clear he doesn’t like walking in here to find me making out with his sister.

"Mateo Moretti. And I think Nessa is old enough to decide if she doesn't want me here. What she and I do is of no concern to you." My name doesn't ring a bell with him. I can tell that, as he continues to squeeze my hand for a long moment.

Instead of reacting with anger, Egan throws his head back and laughs hard before clapping me on the back. "That's cute. Be sure to say that to Liam when he catches word you're slipping the sausage to his baby sister.
